IndieView with Aquah Goddess, author of His Submissive Kitten

I’m fascinated by emotionally complicated characters and relationships where attraction, vulnerability, and danger all exist at the same time. I wanted to explore that tension in a dramatic and immersive way.

The Back Flap

To the world, I am Marianne Castellano. I have the name, the fame, and the billionaire fiancé. But behind the glittering red hair and the 24k gold around my neck is a secret that could burn my empire to the ground.

SEVEN DAYS. ONE VIDEO. NO WAY OUT.

Enter Jason Ashford. He isn’t the humble security guard he pretended to be. He’s a titan of Aegis Global—a man who uses fear like a master uses a whip. He has the evidence to ruin me, and his price is simple: Seven days of my total surrender.

In the isolation of the Maldives, I am trapped between two monsters. But I’ll keep submitting. I’ll keep coming back to his feet because, in his world, I’m not his equal.

I’m his pet. I’m his kitten.

About the Book

What is the book about?

His Submissive Kitten is a dark romance centered around psychological tension, emotional vulnerability, power dynamics, and dangerous attraction. The story explores the complicated relationship between Marianne and Jason against a backdrop of luxury, secrecy, obsession, and emotional conflict.

When did you start writing the book?

I started writing the story after wanting to create something emotionally intense and psychologically layered. The characters came to me very strongly from the beginning.

How long did it take you to write it?

The book developed over several months. Some scenes came very quickly because the emotions felt vivid, while other parts required more rewriting and refinement.

Where did you get the idea from?

I’m fascinated by emotionally complicated characters and relationships where attraction, vulnerability, and danger all exist at the same time. I wanted to explore that tension in a dramatic and immersive way.

Were there any parts of the book where you struggled?

The emotional scenes were the most difficult because I wanted them to feel raw and believable without losing the atmosphere of the story.

What came easily?

The dialogue and emotional tension came naturally. Once I understood the characters’ personalities, their interactions flowed very easily.

Are your characters entirely fictitious or have you borrowed from real world people you know?

The characters are fictional, though emotions and certain personality traits are inspired by real human experiences and observations.

We all know how important it is for writers to read. Are there any particular authors that have influenced how you write and, if so, how have they influenced you?

I enjoy authors who create emotionally intense stories with strong atmosphere and morally complicated characters. I admire writers who are willing to explore darker emotions honestly.

Do you have a target reader?

The book is mainly for readers who enjoy dark romance, emotional intensity, psychological tension, and character-driven stories.

About Writing

Do you have a writing process? If so can you please describe it?

I usually begin with emotional scenes and character dynamics first, then build the larger story around them. Music and atmosphere are also very important to my writing process.

Do you outline? If so, do you do so extensively or just chapter headings and a couple of sentences?

I use a flexible outline with major plot points and emotional moments planned out, but I also allow the characters to evolve naturally while writing.

Do you edit as you go or wait until you’ve finished?

I do both. I often revise scenes while writing, then return later for bigger edits and polishing.

Did you hire a professional editor?

I’ve spent a lot of time self-editing and refining the manuscript throughout the writing process.

Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what gets the fingers tapping?

Yes. Atmospheric music, cinematic instrumentals, and emotionally intense playlists help me stay connected to the mood of the story.

About Publishing

Did you submit your work to Agents?

At this stage, I’ve mainly focused on building an independent audience online.

What made you decide to go Indie, whether self-publishing or with an indie publisher? Was it a particular event or a gradual process?

I liked the creative freedom that comes with indie publishing. It allows me to tell the kinds of stories I genuinely want to write while connecting directly with readers.

Did you get your book cover professionally done or did you do it yourself?

I designed the cover myself. I wanted the visual style to reflect the mood and emotional intensity of the story.

Do you have a marketing plan for the book or are you just winging it?

I’m actively growing my audience through online reader platforms, social media, and promotional opportunities while continuing to work on future books.

Any advice that you would like to give to other newbies considering becoming Indie authors?

Keep writing and keep improving your craft. Growth takes time, but consistency and passion matter more than perfection.

About You

What would you like readers to know about you?

I enjoy creating emotionally intense stories with flawed, layered characters and complicated relationships. Writing gives me a way to explore emotion, vulnerability, and human conflict creatively.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently working on expanding several dark romance and paranormal romance projects, including stories within the Luna’s Secret universe and My Possessive Incubus Demon .
