The Back Flap

A kingdom divided. Ties are sundered. Brother against brother. One race split by the sword. Two kingdoms One of the light One of the dark. One of the law One of war. Across countless galaxies, The many join as one The time is upon us. In the mirror of war all is revealed. One general to lead an army of millions. Thousands of galaxies under his command. A kingdom of law is now kingdom of war. Brother turns against a brother, and one race becomes two. When will division end? Close ties are broken. New ones are forged. A mixed group of leaders are drawn together in one purpose, to bring back balance and peace to all. Every day, we all have choices to make whether at the corner store or at work. Many choices, we often live to regret. At times others have to clean up the mess. We all wonder why we are even born, but for some it may be for evil. Others are created to put out that very evil. We only need to look in our own hearts to see where we are heading. Are we of the light or dark? We often think in life we have time, to deal with things we do later, only to find the clock has run out. Time’s up! Look in the mirror; see it is, see it true, all the secrets revealed in you, ask what is, you will see all the deeds are done by thee.

About the book

When did you start writing the book?

I commenced writing the book in its current form in April 2010. Prior to that, I was trying a few different options until I came up with the book that was published in September 2012.

How long did it take you to write it?

I completed the book in September 2010.

Where did you get the idea from?

I had been writing journals for a number of years and decided to combine the writings together until I had written a book.

Were there any parts of the book where you struggled?

There is a section in the book where Michael is speaking in the Hall of Mirrors to the Mirror of Souls. The section is written in prose. I found myself deliberating on this section, even after it had gone to the professional editor.

What came easily?

I found the rest of the book came easily as it was an idea from my diaries that I had been playing with for quite a while.

Are your characters entirely fictitious or have you borrowed from real world people you know?

I used my life and experiences to base the characters on, but I made them fictitious to assist in selling the book in an easier way.

We all know how important it is for writers to read. Are there any particular authors that have influenced how you write and, if so, how have they influenced you?

No I’m not an avid reader.

Do you have a target reader?

I don’t have one.

About Writing

Do you have a writing process? If so can you please describe it?

I type the first draft then commence what I call ‘layering the book’ until it appears in its current format.

Do you outline? If so, do you do so extensively or just chapter headings and a couple of sentences?

I write the initial outline, until I am satisfied with it. Then I commence the next draft of that section of book, reworking what I have already completed. It may take me a number of drafts until I am satisfied with the outcome.

Do you edit as you go or wait until you’ve finished?

I send the manuscript to a professional to edit once the book is completed, but I edit as I go along.

Did you hire a professional editor?

Yes

Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what gets the fingers tapping?

I am eclectic in what I listen to, but for writing I listen to more easy listening.

About Publishing

Did you submit your work to Agents?

No

What made you decide to go Indie? Was it a particular event or a gradual process?

My publisher suggested this site, so here I am.

Did you get your book cover professionally done or did it you do it yourself?

It was professionaly done.

Do you have a marketing plan for the book or are you just winging it?

I am just winging it.

Any advice that you would like to give to other newbies considering becoming Indie authors?

Research your publisher thoroughly. Look at the reviews about your prospective publisher, in particular any complaints that may have been made against them. This weighed in heavily for me, especially after the first publisher I had chosen didn’t produce the ‘goods’ I wanted. After researching other companies and seeing the list of complaints against each one. I chose Elderberry Press who have been fantastic from the moment I contacted them.

About You

What are you working on now?

I am currently writing the second book, Once Were Brothers: Fractured Worlds which I am hoping to release at the end of this year.
