Charlie Boucher

In 1996 I graduated from Rose Bruford College with a theatre degree in writing.

Despite some alarmed looks from my family and some unspoken but heavily implied doubts that I would ever put this degree to any practical use I have attempted to work fairly regularly as, at least, a semi-professional writer. I also work in Marketing, which requires more creative writing and the ability to make stuff up than you might suppose.

In 1997 I won the Channel 4 Lloyds Bank Film Challenge with my short film “My Dead Buddy”. It was directed by Richard Clark (who, amongst other things, has gone on to direct the award winning Doctor Who episode ” The Doctor’s Wife”, written by Neil Gaiman), and starred Kevin Bishop. Watch the film here.

I’ve worked on a few TV programs that never left Development Hell, written and performed in a musical on the London fringe, had two plays on Radio 4 and a couple of brief forays into sitcom writing. I recently published my first novel, Hiding The Smile, through CreateSpace Publishing, so it’s now available to buy or download for Kindle at Amazon.  Pretty exciting stuff…
