YA today seems sanitized and serious. You won’t find a little person dressing up as a cockroach and singing La Cucaracha for a local pest control commercial in a book today, but you could back then.

This is going to sound a bit strange, but my target readers are the people who wouldn’t normally read books. I wrote this book for my husband who has only ever read one book in his life. He is not the type of person to sit down and crack open a book at all.
