About the book

What is the book about?

It explores a week in the life of a self-righteous prig who overreacts when his fiancee reveals a secret to him.

When did you start writing the book?

I started writing it during the covid19 lockdown and I was able to finish it before it ended.

How long did it take you to write it?

About 3 months.

Where did you get the idea from?

I’ve always been fascinated by hypocrites and hypocrisy and I believe we all have a bit of that in us.

Were there any parts of the book where you struggled?

Not really, even though I struggled with getting some parts that I loved so much out of the narrative. One of my mentors and an accomplished writer, Biola Olatunde, suggested some minor but significant changes. I’m glad I did the rewrites.

What came easily?

The parts about some penticostal churches and their obsession with money and the American dream.

Are your characters entirely fictitious or have you borrowed from real world people you

know?

It’s a bit of both. I had some people in mind when I was writing, but the details are entirely fictional.

Do you have a target reader for this book?

Primarily young women, then young people generally, then fans of romance fiction.

How was writing this book different from what you’d experienced writing previous books?

I was personally mentally disturbed by the pandemic when I was writing it. It’s a bit like writing in the midst of a war. The global uncertainty of that time gave me a completely new and alien feeling.

What new things did you learn about writing, publishing, and/or yourself while writing and preparing this book for publication?

I got to know for sure that flexibility in creative endeavors is sometimes a blessing. Sometimes it is great to leave the safety of the familiar for the possibilities that can only open to open minds.
