Lost Reality

I am 32 right now and I think my age group would love my books. The problems we know, but are never discussed in the mainstream, come to the forefront in my literature.

Thomas Medonis – 11 December 2014

The Back Flap

The end of oil is near. Why are we not prepared? How did we get into this predicament? Prepare for a reckless abandoned joy ride. Substantial issues of our times are elaborated upon in this tale of Thomas Adams’ growth. The dynamics young men face in the society we have created are presented in the most entertaining manner. Based on true events.

About the book

When did you start writing the book?

I started writing this book immediately after the Newtown school shootings. It occurred two towns over from me and I was very troubled. To me, to truly fix myself I must fix within before I even consider improving anything else. And that is what this work is attempting to do- understand how we have come to celebrate this superior violent military ideology. We need to fix America before we help anyone else!

How long did it take you to write it?

This work took over a year and a half.

Where did you get the idea from?

My works are a combination of contemporary ideas and concerns, related historical events, and personal experience. Somehow it all comes together for an entertaining tale.

Were there any parts of the book where you struggled?

In all honesty, the most difficult thing in writing these tales is trying to sugar coat the real life people who characters are based on.

What came easily?

Sculpting the most random subjects together in order to educate and entertain is what I pride myself most in. Mark Twain said, “Write what you know.” That is the beauty in writing for me. Recognizing the symbolism between character’s troubles and the development of our society is something I try to disclose.

Are your characters entirely fictitious or have you borrowed from real world people you know?

Characters hold traits of real people with some fabrication

We all know how important it is for writers to read. Are there any particular authors that have influenced how you write and, if so, how have they influenced you?

Daniel Quinn- The Story of B and Ishmael are very influential to my writing. The use of a fictional talking gorilla by Quinn to display world strife helped motivate me to find my own writing style.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance was another powerful book.

Do you have a target reader?

Not quite, if someone loves learning about hidden things they’ll love my work. I am 32 right now and I think my age group would love my books. The problems we know, but are never discussed in the mainstream, come to the forefront in my literature. No one my age has a voice, even though we were indoctrinated by our society to get the highest education possible.

About Writing

Do you have a writing process? If so can you please describe it?

I just start writing blotches of where I want the story to go. I then read through it and work in favorable material a million times through.

Do you outline? If so, do you do so extensively or just chapter headings and a couple of sentences?

Not really. Probably should.

Do you edit as you go or wait until you’ve finished?

Both

Did you hire a professional editor?

I have. Good and bad experiences.

Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what gets the fingers tapping?

Oh yes, old school reggae!

About Publishing

Did you submit your work to Agents?

Yes

What made you decide to go Indie, whether self-publishing or with an indie publisher? Was it a particular event or a gradual process?

A gradual process. The work needs to be read and this seems to be a good path.

Did you get your book cover professionally done or did you do it yourself?

Did it myself through Createspace.com.

Do you have a marketing plan for the book or are you just winging it?

Just winging it, I sell a lot at the two farm markets I sell produce at, but I don’t know anybody in the business

Any advice that you would like to give to other newbies considering becoming Indie authors?

WRITE, WRITE, WRITE, READ, READ, READ
