About the book

What is the book about?

A homicide detective and an FBI profiler must join forces to track down a serial killer. Too bad the detective just wants to retire and the profiler is on medical leave. While fighting crime they fight their growing attraction for each other.

When did you start writing the book?

I begin writing the book in 2000.

How long did it take you to write it?

First draft was 3 months. Second draft was six months.

Where did you get the idea from?

From a drinking game called I’m going camping.

Were there any parts of the book where you struggled?

No.

What came easily?

It all came easily because I had a lot of fun writing it.

Are your characters entirely fictitious or have you borrowed from real world people you know?

I only add traits of people I know, not use their whole personality or appearance.

We all know how important it is for writers to read. Are there any particular authors that have influenced how you write and, if so, how have they influenced you?

I get asked this a lot, but I don’t think that anyone has in terms of their writing. Maybe when I started out, but I can’t remember anymore.

Do you have a target reader?

Anyone who reads romantic suspense.

About Writing

Do you have a writing process? If so can you please describe it?

I know the title. I know the main characters’ goals, motivations and conflicts. I know the ending. Then I just write.

Do you outline? If so, do you do so extensively or just Chapter headings and a couple of sentences?

See above. Other than those things, I write by the seat of my pants.

Do you edit as you go or wait until you’ve finished?

I let my first draft sit for a month at least before I edit it.

Did you hire a professional editor?

At this point, everything I have self-published has been originally published. When I start to do my own stuff I will hire an editor.

Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what gets the fingers tapping?

Guitar driven rock.

About Publishing

Did you submit your work to Agents?

Yes I did and I had some near misses.

What made you decide to go Indie? Was it a particular event or a gradual process?

I received the rights back to a few books so I decided to get them out there.

Did you get your book cover professionally done or did it you do it yourself?

I have an extremely talented son who did the book covers.

Any advice that you would like to give to other newbies considering becoming Indie authors?

Make sure you have had others read it. Especially a pro editor.

About You

Where did you grow up?

The Main Line of Philadelphia though we were not rich.

Where do you live now?

New Jersey.

What would you like readers to know about you?

That I have a wicked sense of humor.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on two things. One is a romantic suspense and one is a romantic comedy which is a departure for me.
